The Boy Scouts of America are continuing to cover-up a “pedophilia epidemic within their organization,” a group of lawyers alleged Tuesday in a new lawsuit.

The Abused in Scouting lawyers said they’ve identified 350 previously unknown scoutmasters and volunteers who allegedly preyed on boys — and whose names were not known to law enforcement or in the BSA’s internal database, which critics have called “perversion files.”

After decades of silence and years of legal wrangling, former sea cadets who suffered sexual abuse while serving in HMCS Discovery's youth program will finally receive their compensation package.

In 2004, 35 victims who were all former members of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corp., which operated out of HMCS Discovery in Stanley Park, were approved to be part of a class-action lawsuit.

The victims were generally between 13 and 17 years old when they were abused.

Defendants of the class-action suit included the attorney-general of Canada and the Navy League of Canada, as well as three officers.

It's challenging at our Navy league corp to have enough officers to do admin tasks, run classes and then have 2 people in stores for uniform fitting to cadets. Whenever possible I get the parents to fit the uniform and I supervise from a distance.

And, I apologize in advance for being so sexist, the safest option for all kids' programs, more or less, is probably to hire women into those leadership roles.

Well statistically men are most likely to be the perpetrators by a wide margin but...

Interestingly enough there is a case for the under reporting of female abuse of minors and that number may be unknown right now. And a lot has to do with the reasoning for the abuse.  for men it may be more sexual but for women, in many cases is out of a sense of love (or feelings or whatever) or intimacy.  Seems twisted yes.

Finding female volunteers has not been easy, thankfully we have a couple of Moms that volunteer to stay the night so we have a female adult in the building, another requirement if you have female cadets.

There's a ton of stories out there of females in authority, mostly teachers, grooming and assaulting younger males.

I was offered an opportunity to work with Cadets after I retired. I turned it down. One false accusation, no matter how small and your life turns into hell and you'll never beat the stigma.
