Hello,
I am working on a medical appeal.
I have only have half of my pinkie and thumb on my left hand and for this reason I did not get medical clearance (Cannot handle a military weapon) I have a firearms license within Ontario and have never needed a device. I did everything growing up like play hockey, i worked as a mechanic and never really considered myself to have a disability. I am getting a titanium device to help grip things over 50lbs, hoping this helps my chances. I am just wondering if someone could give me some insight to the appeal process, i received a call and they said i couldn’t bend my digits which is why i was denied but that’s false. I am trying to get any form of certification i can saying i can handle a military weapon but its difficult considering we’re in Canada and don’t have access like our neighbours. At this point i’m throwing hail marys but if i don’t i’ll always wonder what if i tried harder, this is something i’ve always wanted and it’s hard to accept i can’t have it because of something out of my control, that and i fully believe i am capable of military tasks. Any insight as to how i can increase my chances would be great, it’s hard to find someone with the knowledge behind the appeal and medical standards and i am in a unique situation.
edit: i also do bjj and muay thai for reference on how capable i am with my hand, i drive a manual car as well and the firearms license is for restricted and non restricted
thanks for any input and your time
