I'm new to this forum and working on my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces. Ammunition Technician is my first choice as a trade but, I would be interested in hearing about the experience of being an Ammo Tech. If there is anyone in this forum that could give me more information about the trade I would really appreciate it.

Current AT. Sheep Dog will have a lot more experience than I will, I've been in the trade around a year and a half.

Great trade, the second link is still accurate as far as the RQ-PTE (QL3) course goes. Not my first trade in the Army and by far the most studying I've ever put into a course. The first several months is the ID phase and it's a lot of information to learn. There are no multiple choice question tests in this trade, so come prepared with good study habits, I currently have a stack of several hundred flash cards.

If you make it through the ID portion you won't have an issue with the rest of the theory. The range phase is all hands on, and a it's a blast.

After BMQ you'll be sent to a developmental unit until a course runs. You'll most likely end up working in salvage until your level 2 security clearance comes in. Processing time for this varies but can be up to a year.
