Announcement by the Minister of National Defence

The fact that the Conservatives are still governing would suggest that it's not as horrible as Simpson would have us believe.

He proposes that it's much better to have a leader "set expectations that cannot be met." I prefer the truth.
But then, I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy or Jack Layton either.

"are still governing with a minority ", still unable to inspire the Liberal voter :

"Visions get people all riled up. They set expectations that cannot be met. They demand the speaker reach into his own soul, and try to tap into those of his listeners. Visions can raise existential questions, always the most dangerous variety. They require public passion, again something potentially dangerous. They can lead to spontaneity, something Mr. Harper has trouble handling."

I can't imagine conservative ideology (you're responsible for your own behaviour; gov't hands don't belong in my wallet) inspiring too many Liberal voters....regardless of who is running the Conservative party.

As noted, Simpson got in his Harper-bashing and Obama-worshiping. It's hardly a newsworthy editorial. I just happen to disagree that political leadership based on 'setting expectations that cannot be met' is a responsible form of governance.

Your opinion and mileage may vary

Hey...as a guy who feels he has no other choice than vote Liberal, I would  seriously consider voting Progressive Conservative tommorrow if I could and I expect many Liberals and Conservatives would also.
