I had a frustrating component transfer as well. I was also looking into foreign militaries, but now I go to basic training in about a week and the wait has been worth it. It sat around for a long time, and when it was finally sent to the recruiting center it turned out I was given outdated forms...
I know exactly what you mean. During the recruiting process it seemed to take forever but now that I'm sworn in and have a date time is flying. Just around 2 weeks until I start. Now it is just a matter of preparing and waiting. Just preparing by working out and making sure I have everything I...
I'm not nervous but I can't wait to start. I'm just trying to pass the time by working out as much as I can. I go for my swearing in Oct. 7 in Corner Brook Newfoundland
Congratulations everyone. I will also be on the course. Going infantry to RCR, hopefully 3rd Battalion as well. I am 18 coming from Newfoundland. See everyone there.
To apply you have at least have grade 10. During the other grades you can apply. I applied for Reg force during grade 12 and then after I graduated I went to the recruiting center and updated my file to include that.
I just completed a component transfer from Reserve Musician (army) to Reg force Infantry. I got called and am going to basic Oct. 31. From when I started my component transfer to the date I was called was about 9 months. That seems fast compared to some stories I've heard. In my case I had to...
I hope to be selected. I am also tired of being a reservist. I talked to a recruiter and he said I was almost guaranteed to be called so I hope to be on BMQ soon. Good luck to everyone else.
Agreed. What is a 17 year old murder going to say.. "Ohhh.. I thought I could just go around and shoot innocent people for fun.. I didn't know it was wrong or anything.."
I accidentally stole some combat pants once. I got home from weekend BMQ and found out that I had one more pair than I took with me. I must have mistaken them for mine when I was packing up. They weren't labeled and when I took them back the next weekend asking if anyone was missing a pair no...
I also joined the Reserves in grade 11 at age 16. I had no problems with school at all. There is usually a lot of time to complete homework and assignments even if you are doing your BMQ on weekends. Also, other jobs don't even compare to it, in my opinion it is by far the best job available and...
I was told by several recruiters that unless i reached the rank or cpl I would have to do basic training again. I am actually really looking forward to doing it again. Hopin got do it in the summer though, right after high school
That's great. As long as you keep your sense of humour and realize it's all for fun you'll do fine. I am also planning to switch to reg force. I am in the process of my component transfer right now. I was a bit worried about it as well but I was told since I've only been in the reserves a short...
Hi, I joined the reserves right when I turned 16 and I didn't encounter any problems or conflicts in relation to school. I was able to get all my school work done easily since you generally meet only one night a week and if you are doing basic training on weekends you still have a little spare...
