Would there be any value in submitting two separate applications?  One for NCM and one for DEO, in case spots open up in one but not the other? Is this even possible, or is a person only allowed one application?

Not to derail, but I am currently trying to decide between pursuing the DEO or NCM route for infantry.  I was wondering what the OP (and others) reasons are for switching to NCM after attaining your commission?

So does a qualified DEO applicant have more or less of a chance of being accepted than an equally qualified NCM applicant?

Is the above true for officer as well?  The recruiter told me that 9 years was the minimum term because of how expensive it is to train combat arms officers, so I assumed it was mandatory once you sign the dotted line. 

If my goal is to be a candidate for the new openings, would it be more beneficial to submit an application now so that it is already in the system, or wait until after openings have become available? Moving back to Canada as a civvy is on the table, however I would want to secure a job/career...
