Really late to the party here but here goes.... When I joined the CAF, Scoty wished me luck, thanked me for carrying the torch, and told me to stay in touch - this was about 8 years ago. I wanted to make sure I made something of myself before I reached back to him, but just found out that he...

    Help in ID'ing Badge

ALCON, Please see the attached image. A friends Grandfather passed away and they are cleaning up his estate. They asked if I could ID some stuff. This one has me stumped. All I know is that it's probably from the WW2 era. Any ideas? <a...

    csor as an officer?

Bit late to the party but if you want CSOR and Inf Officer, worry first about passing your Inf phase training. I have had a lot of friends, who were real studs, flunk their Inf Phase 3 because it was that tough. I can't imagine what CSOR selection and training will be like. Good luck.

    Canadian solider bumper sticker

Hi Folks, I was at Borden recently and saw a few milcots with a neat bumper sticker. It was sand coloured with half of it of a Canadian Solider and the other half of a maple leaf. I have been searching around online but can't find it. Anyone here know what sticker I'm talking about or have a...

    Defence Analyst Sunil Ram

Well I am glad that service members and other students who are attending this university are more or less getting some quality education. As for everything else, Sunil, if you are reading this and I mis-characterized you, send me a private message and I will be more than happy to meet up with...

    Defence Analyst Sunil Ram

I was just reflecting on what happened again, last night, and he really was a horror show. No self respecting "Professor" would have acted the way he did. The whole time, whenever I tried to raise a point or a question he would pull the age, and his so called "experience", card and cut me off...

    Defence Analyst Sunil Ram

Very late to the party here but here goes. I saw this man at the RCMI tonight and all my alarm bells went off. I had to do some google searches on this guy and found this thread. Long story short, this guy said a bunch of things, with full confidence, that I know are factually incorrect (I have...

Apparently, our good friends in Denmark couldn't let this one fade off into the sunset. But hey! It has an ELCAN! http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/03/12/danish-army-adopts-m60e6-7-62-gpmg/ I'm really hoping that the article is off and this isn't going to be used as a true GPMG. Anyone...

Hunting advice for an interested party

Hello all: So, I'm a city boy but my mother grew up in a fishing and farming village, overseas. She used to hunt with my grandfather but hasn't hunted for several decades. So, we decided that we would like to go out and hunt together. But here is the thing. She has never hunted in Canada, and I...

    Sleep Issues on course [MERGED]

Regarding supplements. We had one guy on course who was very fit but also a supplement freak. He would (I'm not joking at all) have a handful of pills during his breakfast. When we went out to the field for the first time, he had limited supply of his supplements and water and completely...

    Frag vest/weighted vest training

Hi All, While on course we were issued frag vests with plates, and as much as I loathed carrying those evil things around I do recognize that we received a great deal of legitimate training from them. So here is my question for you all: As a reservist, is it possible to request to be issued a...

Yup. Hence the reason why I specified the holsters I did.

WTB - Tactical Holster for Browning Hi Power

That would fit the bill but it's a bit pricy. I'm was hoping of getting something for a bit cheaper than that.

The Holocaust Just Got More Shocking

I just noticed this tread and read through it. To be honest, I don't really know what some of the posters were trying to get across or if there is an overriding narrative with this thread. But here is a number for perspective. During the Second World War, over 1 in 3 Jews were killed. At the...

    Individual Meal Pack (IMP) [Merged]

That sounds about right. I did some quick math and it looks like we budgeted it to be around 20 a piece. If I take into account the IMP's left over from our last excursion, which we are going to use, the number I get is a bit more than 20 for an IMP.
