Starting basic training with certain injuries?

I haven't seen a post like this so I figured I'd ask. I've searched around on certain topics and pretty well concluded that if you're going combat arms (like me!), you better not be hurting when you start your training. I've been cleared medically for my sore lower back (doctors don't think I...

    Just Got the Offer!

I should be able to make it. I'm supposed to get sworn in tomorrow although there's some medical stuff I need to sort out; possible herniated disc. If I get on, it'll be last minute.

    Credit Check Superthread- Merged Topics

Hmm, when they told me they'd do my security and credit check, they never mentioned anything about debt. I owe about $5700 on my Visa and have about $5200 left on my personal loan. They didn't say a word to me.

Starting on April 16th, will I be in time for Afghanistan?

Wasn't there an article somewhere about people asking the troops get pulled out by 2009? So this summer is Phase 1. Language training is a few months at least which will push Phase 2 to either the fall or even summer 2008. Then you do Phase 3 during the year and Phase 4 during the summer of...

Applying to the rcmp and personal finances

So of course I finally receive my test scores after a 3 month delay and at the same time I receive my offer for the military (infantry officer). Question is, which one do I continue with and which one do I delay? I'll have to figue that one out on my own within the next couple days. I had a...

    Anyone on the April BOTC??

I finally got called today for infantry officer. Course starts April 16th in St-Jean. Anyone else going to be there?

made a bad choice want to go home

I don't know if I'm out of line or not (since I'm still waiting to get in) but at 18, 3yrs is a drop in the bucket when it comes to your entire life. You still have time to go to school after you're out of the military and you still won't be too far behind others that are in university. Plus...

Perhaps NCM is the way to go...

For what it's worth... I reopened my file for DEO Infantry in Nov.06 and during my interview, I was told that I should consider armour or arty officer.  Like you, I'm pretty well set on infantry officer but at the beginning I was really drawn to Combat Engineer as an NCM (even now that option...

    CFRC Montreal

I'm in Victoria BC now and it took a week to get my 2.5 year old file (I saw it with my own eyes) from the Montreal CFRC. Not bad considering they said it would take 2 weeks... and I was called when it had arrived!

When to expect training to begin

They mean that your file looks competitive enough to get you a spot on the next officer course which should be around May 2007.  You could read through this entire thread, lots of info about this: http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/44696.0.html Did they (recruiting centre) mention anything...

    Merit boards for D.E.O.

Since the next course is going to be in the spring/summer, I wonder if DEO candidates get mixed with RMC and ROTP people. I'm assuming yes since the training is all the same.

    Merit boards for D.E.O.

Ok, so since the Jan 8th people are all sorted out, anyone that gets info on the next officer course should post it up in this thread: dates, occupation offered...etc. Thanks!

    no longer in demand?

Well it makes me think of what my interviewer told me (about officer training) not too long ago. Of course, at the end of the interview when they say they'll recommend you for officer training, the captain said my chances for infantry officer might be slim (less positions) but armour and...

    Merit boards for D.E.O.

I'm going home for dinner! It's too bad I can't get on the January course. I'm pretty sure my file missed the November selection board. edit. oops, double post.

    Tattoos in the RCMP

Yeah, I was referring to the RCMP recruiter and what she said about that waiver.

    Merit boards for D.E.O.

Hmmm, I didn't even know about the 15th.  The course on the 8th was the only one that was mentioned. Either way, my file is being sent out tomorrow to Ottawa for medical clearance. I'm not sure what happens after that (where it goes, who looks at it...etc).  Unless there's some sort of miracle...

    Merit boards for D.E.O.

Just came back from my interview and medical.  Well the January course is full for sure so there's no way I can get on it (unless a bunch of people back out).  I was told there was no confirmed date for the following course but it would be around May if there was one. I was also told, in...

    Rcmp recruiting need help

They will take into consideration that english is your second language. It doesn't hurt to apply. The tests are free and the selection process is free so why not try it out?! Since you're older and without a degree, if I were you, I'd focus on the fact that you have more life experience...

Wondering about WO. Miles, Sgt. Vance, Sgt. Johnson... from RCR

Thanks for all the replies! It's great to hear about what they're up after all these years.  And yes it was Ken and Mel... I now remember they would call eachother by their first names once in a while. I'll wait to contact Ken Miles once I'm in my training.
