    CDN/US Covid-related political discussion

Essential workers? Hmmmm......Earlier this week some people looking at data points started to flag there's an initial appearance of correlation between vaccinations and increased infection and transmission rates. For those that say that's impossible, that actually happened once before with...

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

Just my opinion, but given this threat could evolve in multiple ways, I'm thinking ensuring 360-degree coverage with a gun system with fuseable ammunition would appear to be a wise investment.

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

    That's exactly my question too....

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

The following video was posted by Kirkhill in the Air Defense thread, but I thought it also deserved a place in the CSC thread in the context of the ship's ability to defend itself from swarm attacks as it paints a much clearer picture of what the potential of those attacks looks like....

    Chinese Military,Political and Social Superthread

I'm getting significantly more concerned that the PRC has decided it no longer has to follow the global rules of etiquette and behaviour, and has adopted the mentality of the Middle Kingdom (that they are the center of the world). If I were Taiwan, especially after seeing the PRC's behaviour in...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

You're assuming the Liberal Party is looking to be accurate in its claims? I have no such expectations. In both cases they just need enough plausibility to be marketable as the sheep won't fact check it anyway.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I'm telling you right now.... If Trudeau can negotiate a deal which results in i) jobs in Eastern Canada where seats are contested, and ii) Boeing ensuring the contract is somehow carbon-neutral, I think he would jump at the opportunity. I think the Liberal Party is desperate to try to change...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Interesting read... Either the "structural impact on landing gear" or "reduced access for servicing" could both torpedo the project (and the benefits it would have provided). Bring on the F-15EX!

    CPC Leadership Discussion 2020-21

I think the PC's have (2) cards to play: 1. Get out ahead of "ending the lockdown" and campaign on the wrongness of having isolated and locked down the entire population to protect a very small vulnerable minority, and all the damage that caused. 2. Promote a "New Environmentalism" that...

    CPC Leadership Discussion 2020-21

I don't understand how your table has anything to do with Scheer winning the popular vote, but losing the seat count? Yes, he campaigned horribly and lost votes (and for the record I didn't like him), but that has nothing to do with the issue Fishbone raised....unless I'm missing something.

    Chinese Military,Political and Social Superthread

Not sure how anyone else is interpreting this, but this looks a heck of a lot like they are building a strategic minerals reserve. If I were Taiwan steps like this would make me feel increasingly nervous and I would be bumping up my military spending in a hurry. I have a bad feeling Xi is guy...

    Suez Canal blocked by EVERGIVEN

In case not, this is what I happened to read last night.... Candidly of I was looking for "Who gains most and loses the least?", I would probably be looking at Iran first...but that's just me.

    Suez Canal blocked by EVERGIVEN

Has anyone else read the recent claims that there is some RUMINT that it may have been geo-hijacked by the CCP? Interesting theory.

    USAF Buying the F15EX

So really we should be looking forward to the announcement of the WE Charity / Irving Shipyards Tigermoth Interceptor at $300 million per copy....but fully bilingual and coming with all the requisite carbon offsets? Sweet! :giggle:

    USAF Buying the F15EX

It depends....if you approach Boeing to get an economic package that Trudeau could "sell" going into an election, I think it could be a major win-win for everyone. You just need someome to step up and raise the issue. If it adds votes, especially in Quebec or Ontario, JT may jump on board.

    USAF Buying the F15EX

Well if both the USAF and RAF are identifying that the "per hour flight costs" are outside any semblance of budgetary responsibility for the F-35, I hope the people making our decisions are paying attention. Does anyone know if there is any mechanism by which we could invite Boeing to submit...

    USAF Buying the F15EX

I apologize that this is more focused on the F-35 but it feels like the core of this thread has moved to a comparison of the attributes of both fighters. "Lord Dannatt said the Ministry of Defence is being bankrupted by the RAF’s F-35B stealth fighters – £80million each and costing up to...

    USAF Buying the F15EX

In fairness to Boeing, when our bid process started, which seems like million years ago, was the F-15EX not just an idea on a pad of paper?

    USAF Buying the F15EX

Has anyone seen projected F-15EX costs (procurement and hourly operating estimates) so that they could be compared to the F-35?
