    Im calling you out

Better equipment, more people, less tradition, I'd say stay your course. After 20 yrs in i can only say that as your rank increases, your GAFF has to decrease or you will have a coronary. No one wants work anymore just credit, why bother creating problems. Collect the pay...retire...no problem.

As for living: Single: 4 to a room with 17 yr old snot faced retards, no respect, no discipline, no control Married:PMQ 700-1400 a mo for a sub standard 1940's uninsulated duplex or apartment. Don't get your hopes up. It gets better when you buy your first place...lol.

    ATIS favorite postings??

Stick to large bases. Small bases are for retirees and the unsuspecting. You will become disheartened early if you get stuck in a poophole before you have 16 yrs in.

    CP-140 Aurora

So we are ignoring the fact that a multi role aircraft is being used primarily for surveilance and occasionally for ASW. I say keep the 10 for their ASW capability and buy a surveillance aircraft to augment them. I have very little confidence in the opinion of a former pilot over the CDS...

    Ruggedized, portable field printers...

If you want a couple of "never out of the box", "standalone only" LJ 4050's(circa 2000) I can transfer them to you. They are Tempest but the Manufacturer(DRS) is "US TEMPEST approved" but not "Canadian" approved and therefore of no use. Would save me taking a sledge to them.

Afstan: Are the UK military seeing things we are not?

When the natives in Canada respect policing their own reserves...only then can we claim to be proficient at developing other nations. Since we can't do it in our own country...we need a military in ours... and they need a military in theirs, because their natives have the same level of respect...

Aviation Systems Technician ( AVN Tech )

103 has no AVN techs???? I know of 2 for sure, should I go tell them that they dont exist? They dont work on the Cormorant but they are still needed.

civi jobs in the after life

It's not about the trade courses, unless you want to work for a contractor for the CF. The civvie world doesnt care about anything you take in the CF(for the most part). Its the certifications and courses you take in the civvie world that count. Without Microsoft or Cisco certifications(which...

LGEN Leslie: Troops, helicopters, tanks needed

The general impression I get from posts on this forum as well as my colleagues is that there are a whole lot of people ready, willing and able to do a tour but cant get there.  The US doesn't have that problem, everyone goes, but they are running out.   Perhaps the US should offer Canadian...

LGEN Leslie: Troops, helicopters, tanks needed

I totally agree! As I've said before, we have 65000 in uniform but once you minus the bulk of the Navy, Air Force, Schools and Headquarters we dont have many available bodies for Afghanistan. If the will was there, MOSART would have fixed this problem on the support side. There is no easy answer...

From CWO Richard - C&E Training Requirements

I havent replied in awhile as it takes me a little while to contain the frustration. Each time I post something, you go off on a tangent and I have no idea how you got there (or you nit pick). CFSCE has 2 barrack blocks functional for QL3/5. B2 is slated for demolition and B1is for OSQ/Officers...

Feud over cash leaves soldiers' children waiting for special care

I've seen this year after year in every province. They love to tax the military member just like any other resident of the province but when it comes time to provide a service...we are federal employees. I ran into this when I needed surgery in Alberta. The province prescribed ENT Surgeon was...

Canada eyeing reservists to bolster force in Afghanistan

My pet peeve again, you mean INFANTEERS not SOLDIERS. There are tens of thousands of reg force soldiers who will never see the desert(while others go multiple times I might add).

LGEN Leslie: Troops, helicopters, tanks needed

I am in that situation right now and I am eyeing that pension as a buffer zone so that I can take a lesser paying job doing something that holds my interest. All the money in the world wouldnt make me put up with being miserable. I've watched others get the good jobs and good postings for 20...

LGEN Leslie: Troops, helicopters, tanks needed

I'm not sure they are getting that message through to career managers. There is a concerted effort to force people out by deliberately posting people where they dont want to go. Our career manager admits it freely and proudly. Is retention really a priority after all?

Military showing 'no interest' (Recruitment of Afghan-Canadians)

That brings up a good point, that was as a result of a CANFORGEN looking for serving members who speak specific languages. When I joined I spoke English, Spanish, Swahili and French. The military has no use or interest in anything other than French or English. I no longer speak any of those...

    So, where is the UN?

I personally think this story reinforces Roy Harding's point in part: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070225/somalia_ship_070225/20070225?hub=World How many times is this gonna happen before the UN realizes how inept this appears.

The General Hillier Years. The Merged Superthread

Having lived through the 90's in the military I was impressed that someone actually recognized how dark a time it was. This Mr Goldenburg is correct as well though, the dollars spent probably went towards these fine programs and resulted in uh...incalculable stuff. But at what cost to the...

The General Hillier Years. The Merged Superthread

OMG really an Admiral...well that changes everything(shaking his head).  Uh my comments were about the fisheries patrols...not the gulf. I have no idea what the Air Force does...thanks for enlightening me. History does not seem to support an effective non-army CDS.
