    2011 Obstacle Course

Thanks for pointing out the inconsistency I had in my profile. I had a confusing first few weeks when accepted. I was first offered Civi Rotp then told I was goin to RMC. I finally ended up at a civilian university and neglected to change the unit I belonged to. Hence the confusion.

    ROTP 2011-2012

I remember about one guy wanting to do extreme sports last summer during our orientation period. He was a qualified parachutist and jumped a couple times a month. They told him no right off the bat. I know he fought to be able to do it but I didn't hear anything about it. Oh btw they also told...

Direct Entry Officer (DEO) questions [Merged]

If the criteria for a DEO candidate is the same at for ROTP then I would say that you need to look at other factors on top of marks. During an interview, the recruiter is looking for a well rounded person. They look for extra curricular activities that involve some sort of leadership skill...

    ROTP 2011-2012

Pudd13 you are right in saying that they can still take you for RMC. You a great example of this because you are changing programs. Thus you actually have to start from scratch. The fact that I had completed half my business degree and that I was staying in that program in effect prevented me...

    ROTP 2011-2012

In my case I had completed 2 years of university by the time I was enrolled into the Canadian Forces for ROTP. Ringknocker82 is right, the government doesn't like to spend money for nothing. They will probably have you complete your degree at your chosen university. If they do ask you to go to...

    BMOQ May 2011

To my knowledge, ROTP-civ and DEO people take the 15 week BMOQ while RMC students only do 11 weeks.

    ROTP 2011-2012

I had the same question as you when I was accepted for ROTP last year. I was accepted sometime in April and was asking the recruiting center multiple times if I could go to BMOQ in May because I was already in university and was done at that time. Their answer was "that's not going to be...

    ROTP 2011-2012

If you do not get accepted you can always apply again next year. I applied to ROTP with more than half my Bachelor done. Some I met at recruit camp had already done their first year too. The one year wait could definitely benefit some. You could use your first year to improve your grades and...

    Logistics Officer - Sea [Merged]

Thank you for the response Ballz. I will definitely have to talk to the SEM sometime soon. I will have had only 1 year of subsidization in the ROTP program when I graduate. I have not done BMOQ yet. I will need do some additional research regarding the program so I can offer some sort of...

    Discovery of RMC and ROTP

I came across the ROTP program by mistake. When  I was 10 or 11, I visited my aunt at Valcartier. From there, I asked her many questions. As I grew older, she told me about the CF being able to pay for your school. I was quite interested. Towards the end of high school, I looked up interesting...

    Logistics Officer - Sea [Merged]

In May I will be finishing my degree in accounting and finishing Rotp. I would like to be accredited as a CGA. I am hopeful that I will be able to complete the requirements for the work portion of the CGA certification within the LOG position. I know that I will need to apply for subsidization...

    Army rules

You can also say that the numbers are up due to the last economic recession. The Canadian Forces offers job security and great benefits. Lots of people these days go to work everyday with the fear that their job has disappeared (ie: GM workers). Maybe that fear lead them to a career change. Who...

    ROTP 2010-2011

Hey Rogo, My pay was a little short this month also. It was short by about $250 also. I would assume we paid R&Q while we were at St-Jean for those 2 weeks. Oh and don't forget all the lovely taxes the government sent our way.

    Running

The best piece of advice I have received about running was from a female friend of mine who was on the track team at university. She said that she couldn't run to save her life at the beginning. In order to start, she would run as slow as possible. Slightly faster than normal walking speed...

    ROTP 2010-2011

Do not worry about it before hand. I visited my ULO this past Wednesday and the paperwork is all organized for you. You will be guided through the process one step at a time. I filled in my will before hand. However, the will has to be filled out on the computer (at least in my case)...
