    Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels (MCDVs)

It's just a paper design at the moment but OSK is proposing an "Arctic Frigate" design to replace the Danish Thetis-Class patrol ships. https://www.navalnews.com/event-news/dsei-2023/2023/09/denmarks-osk-design-unveils-new-arctic-frigate/ An interesting concept if they can actually produce...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

I'm not suggesting that the process doesn't make it easy for a Reservist to continue to fly with the RCAF but rather questioning whether geography prevents a much greater number of former members from flying (or turning wrenches) with the RCAF.

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

Do we have a Reserve structure that makes it easy for former Reg Force RCAF personnel to continue flying/maintaining part time? What would the cost/benefit analysis of setting up Reserve Squadrons at Pearson or Mirabel look like in comparison to some of the other options. It's been mentioned...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

Only way I could see it maybe work would be if you stuck to civilian-equivalent aircraft only (P-8's & MRTT's) and have the Reserve Squadrons based out of major Canadian airports so you could draw your personnel from pilots/techs already working there. Maybe work some kind of deal with the...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

I wonder how much of the current personnel crisis is actually a result of our ever declining fleet sizes. Take fighters for example: 200 x CF-104's + 132 x CF-101's + 135 x CF-5's = 467 (overlapping) reduced to 138 x CF-18's reduced to 88 x F-35's I'm sure the same is true of all our other...

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I say convert them to the MPA configuration that Airbus offers. Would be a good complement to our new P-8's and give us something at least approaching the MPA fleet size that a country with our amount of coastline needs. It would also have the added bonus of causing the heads of every...

    Canada's tanks

FTFY Desirable? Yes. And when looked in isolation should be entirely doable for a G7 nation. But when you look at the deep, deep hole (abyss) the CAF has been dug into - in addition to serious personnel shortages, an apathetic public and a hostile Government it's simply not going to happen.

    Canada's tanks

Comparing Centurions to Leopards/Abrams is apples to watermelons. With all the competing (and very expensive) equipment requirements that the CAF has I don't in my wildest dreams imagine any Canadian government purchasing 300 MBTs. The best I can imagine is a Regiment's worth pre-positioned...

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

So if you're going to change the radar (which I assume would mean changing the mast configuration), remove/add the mission bay, remove/add VLS launchers in the middle of the ship, and add a stern ramp then it makes you wonder why we went with an "existing" design in the first place.
