Army Hits Recruiting Goal of 68000

Pretty good considering the economy is strong. Recruiting usually is easier in a down economy. Patriotism is probably a big reason. ;D

Isnt 68000 about the same as the CF ? Recruiting is tough duty with tougher standards. When I enlisted in 1972 we had recruits that were serving as an alternative to prison. I went from my sheltered life to seeing recruits shoot up and others did pot. I had never known anyone that did that stuff. The soldier I saw shooting up actually ended up flipping out. Rather than turn him over to the MP's the DI locked him in the arms room until he sobered up. Years later I ran into him in Alaska while I attended the NCO Academy and he looked like his bad habits were behind him. In todays Army he would have been kicked out. So our DI did him a favor.
