to change at any time without notice. Historically, this has meant the
addition of a few small features here and there.
Q: Do I need a subscription?
A: No. All core services are available to everyone, subscriber
or not.
Q: So why would I get a subscription?
A: In addition to all the features listed above,
a subscription is the best way to help Milnet.ca stay alive, and even improve.
More subscribers means a bigger "budget" which allows us to improve
or add services.
Q: How much is a subscription?
A: $30 annually. Your subscription will automatically be renewed every year
unless you cancel it.
Q: How long will it take before my Subscription is activated?
A: That depends on how you pay. Subscriptions purchased via PayPal will be activated instantly, while other methods will not be activated until the payment has cleared.
Q: What do the coins look like?
A: Here are some photos to give you an idea of the size and quality of the coins:
Q: What are the coins made out of?
A: The coins are professionally minted by a die casting process, with an antique brass finish and enamel colour on one side.
Q: Can I chose a specific coin number?
A: Yes. Non-PayPal subscribers can select their coin number when they fill out the Milnet.ca Subscription Form PayPal users should send an e-mail after purchasing your subscription, noting the coin number you'd like. If it's available, it's yours. If you don't request a specific
number, you will automatically receive the next available (lowest) serial
number.
Q: What is a challenge coin?
A: Challenge coins are a longstanding military tradition, which basically goes like this: If you "coin" someone and they don't have their coin on them, they owe you a beer. If they do have their coin, you owe them a beer. In some cases, the person with the higher serial number buys the person with the lower serial number a beer, as lower serial numbers generally indicate seniority.
Q: Is the Milnet.ca Coin a challenge coin? That is, can I "challenge" other subscribers for beer?
A: I'm in no position to make people buy you beer if they've left their coin at home, so all I can suggest is give it a shot. I will guarantee that I'll buy a beer for anyone who produces a Milnet.ca coin in my presence, at least once.
Q: How can I get a coin?
A: Coins are available only to subscribers.
Q: How big are the coins?
A: They are 3.81 cm (1.5") in diameter, and 4mm thick.
Q: What if I've lost my coin?
A: Susbscibers can purchase replacement coins for $20, though since each coin is unique, you will not be able to obtain the same
serial number.
Q: What if I don't want anyone to know I am a subscriber?
A: By default, the profile of all Subscribers
is marked to show that they have contributed to the site. If you do not
want any public recognition of your Subscription, simply
send me an e-mail
and your profile will be reverted back. Note that you will still have all the rights
and privileges of a subscriber, though your profile will not indicate your status.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Simply click here to view or cancel your subscription. Please note that past subscription payments will
not be reimbursed.
